Well done to Sarah-Jane Judge and Michael Quinlan who overcame Christine Dobbin and Jack Evans in the Final of the U.C.C. LawSoc-Matheson Ormsby Prentice Moot Court Competition last night. The standard was high, and the three judges were glowing in their praise of the grasp of the law evinced by both teams' performances. Sarah and Mike will now go forward to represent U.C.C. at the Holland & Knight Competition, run by T.C.D., a competition which we have won the last two years running.
The judging panel of last night's Final was chaired by Judge David Riordan, Ph.D., of the Cork District Court, and he was ably assisted by Ms. Noeleen Ruddy, Senior Associate of Matheson Ormsby Prentice Solicitors, and Mr. Michael McGrath, B.L., local barrister.

Grateful thanks go to the Irish Penal Reform Trust (and in particular Ms. Fíona Ní Chinnéide, who aided with the problem, and Dr. Ursula Kilkelly, who gave a short presentation on the work of the IPRT on the night) for their support this year.
It would also be remiss to forget our generous Moot sponsors for the last couple of Sessions: Matheson Ormsby Prentice solicitors are a very supportive partner, and it is a testament to the work of my predecessor Convenors that Matheson Ormsby Prentice continue this association through these tough economic times.
In other Moot news, the Fresher Competition's sign-up will open shortly, keep an eye on the Forums for developments in this regard.
As always, do not hesitate to contact me on moot@ucclawsociety.com with any moot-related queries.
Cathal.
